Falcon Community Partnerships: The Hangar Trade Program

The Hangar Trade Program kicked off on January 18, 2022. This program was developed in partnership with Eyes On Me Inc. and a network of donors who share a common vision of providing trade skills education to the youth of Brookshire and the surrounding communities. We desire a synergistic approach with Royal ISD.

While our primary age group for this program is 14-18 years of age, we have participants that are 11 years old and adults that attend just to learn! We even have a mother and son attending classes together! Our participants are Royal ISD students and homeschoolers from Waller, Harris, and Fort Bend counties. Currently we are providing a course in general construction that will include some electrical and plumbing training. Our students are currently building dog houses. We have cast a net to capture anyone that may not be aware of the opportunities available through trades and to encourage growth to those who are curious.

We want to teach how to troubleshoot, repair, or replace many of the problems that exist in our homes from normal wear and tear to damage caused by nature. So many people had broken pipes from “The Freeze” of 2021 and as a result have structural and cosmetic damage that still exists today. Throughout the course of instruction, participants are learning teamwork, communication skills, critical thinking, and leadership while becoming competent and confident individuals. Classes are given from 2:30 to 4:00 PM for those in DAEP and 4:30 to 6:00 PM for all others. Class days are Tuesday and Thursday.
