Attendance Matters.

When your child misses school, they miss out—not just on academics, but also on fine arts, extracurricular activities, and the friendships and social experiences that help them grow.

Daily attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. Even a few absences can disrupt learning and make it harder for your child to master important skills.

Across the country, more than 8 million students miss so many days of school that they are academically at risk. Chronic absenteeism—missing 10% of the school year, as few as two days a month—can have serious long-term consequences. Whether absences are excused, unexcused, or due to suspensions, missing school can result in:

  • Third-graders struggling to master reading

  • Sixth-graders falling behind in core subjects

  • Ninth-graders at greater risk of dropping out
