While his decision to retire is bittersweet, Kershner remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition in leadership. Over the coming months, Royal ISD will work closely with students, staff, and the community to identify and onboard the districtโ€™s next superintendent.

The Royal ISD transition plan includes:

๐Ÿ”น Selecting a search firm
๐Ÿ”น Gathering input from students, staff, and community members to develop a superintendent profile
๐Ÿ”น Selecting and narrowing candidates to a lone finalist
๐Ÿ”น Finalizing the hiring and onboarding process
๐Ÿ”น Facilitating a smooth transition with the incoming superintendent

โ€œRoyal ISD will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever cherish the memories weโ€™ve created together,โ€ Kershner added. โ€œThough my role may change, I will always be cheering on our Falcons from the sidelines.โ€

Royal ISD will provide updates on the superintendent search process in the coming months.
