Greetings! My name is Lakisha Murray. I am extremely excited to be one of the new school counselors for Royal Elementary School (PK-1st) and Royal STEM Academy (2nd to 5th). I have been an educator for 10 years. During my career, I have served as a Special Education teacher, an English Language Arts and Reading Teacher, and as a Behavior Specialist. At this point in my career, I have worked with students of all grade levels from Pre-K to 12th grade. Elementary is, by far, my favorite age group to work with because they are very eager for guidance and structure. Personally, I love to read, and I want to incorporate that into my counseling practice to instill a love for reading in my students. I also love to write, travel, dine out, and binge watch my favorite shows.

I believe that all children have unique gifts, strengths, and talents. As a and school counselor, it is my duty to help them to discover what are those attributes. Naturally,I have a strong passion for helping children become the best versions of themselves through the teaching of good character values and the practice of making good choices. That is what I plan to do as a committed educator of Royal ISD.
