MS. MELISSA LEJEUNE

MS. MELISSA LEJEUNE

My name is Mrs. LeJeune. I am one of the fourth-grade teachers. This is my first year at Royal Elementary. I was an ELAR and Social Studies teacher at Sealy Independent School District with four years of experience. One year I even taught Science. I have taught second through fourth grade. This will be my fifth year in education.

I am from a small community in Southwest Louisiana, Acadia Parish. I am a Cajun. Like most Cajuns in my town, who are farmers, I have a huge family. I am the seventh child out of eight children and the youngest girl. Having seven brothers and sisters, means having many nieces and nephews, which I do. I have about 30 nieces and nephews who are the apples of my eye. I loved watching each one grow, and now I watch their little ones grow. I have always been around small children and love them. When my nieces and nephews, even cousins, were young and in school, I was the one helping them with schoolwork and reading. Even though I moved away, I now help their little ones through facetime. So, here I am today as teacher. I am doing what I love to do.

My family and I moved to Texas in 2006. I am married with three kids. One is a college freshman, another is a high school sophomore, and my youngest is a Junior High seventh grader. I also have animals, 4 dogs, 5 chickens, 6 cows, 1 guinea pig, and a fish. My family and I do live in the country. I have many pastimes, one of which is reading. You will find me either with a book, my kindle, or mini I-pad sitting inside or outside reading. I read more than I watch TV. Other than reading, my family and I had like to trail ride on our dirt bikes in the national forest, swim, play games, garden, cook, and many, many other things. We like spending time together.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 grade from the University of Houston – Victory. I love teaching ELAR and Social Studies, especially reading. My favorite memory in Sealy was teaching students who did not like to read and by the end of the year having their parents telling me they will not put down a book. I am excited to join your small community, and I am honored to become a part of Royal ISD. I am looking forward to meeting all my students and getting to know them and their parents.
