Two Royal ISD Students Qualify for FCCLA State Competition

The 2020 Family, Career, and Community Leaders (FCCLA) state conference was canceled due to COVID-19. Royal FCCLA students LeAnn Hillsman and Lilliana Gonzales advanced to state. Both students were looking forward to using their regional competition results to perfect their projects and speeches for the state competition.

On April 4th, the Texas FCCLA conducted a virtual awards banquet that used a unique scoring system based on students’ regional scores. LeAnn Hillsman placed third at the state level in Nutrition and Wellness. Lilliana Gonzales placed 5th overall at the regional level.

We are very proud of every Royal student who competed. They faced strong competitors and did a truly amazing job. All of them should be proud of their hard work. Royal FCCLA advisor Mrs. Honeycutt stated, “I want to thank each of our FCCLA students for a job well done and let them know that I am immensely proud of each one of them. I would also like to thank fellow teacher Mrs. Beyer for all the help she provided. Royal FCCLA is looking forward to next year’s competitions!”
