Pre-AP/Honors

The Pre-Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors classes include the curriculum of the level classes, but with a more in-depth study of the areas within the course.  The Pre-AP and Honors curriculum is designed to prepare students for AP, dual credit (DC), On-Ramps (OR), or the next Honors course in that subject area.  Students who are successful in Pre-AP and Honors classes should consider taking AP, DC, and OR courses.  Careful consideration should be given when deciding to take advanced courses, as class size may limit a school’s ability to allow a student to change levels.  These courses require more individual initiative, analytical reading, student interaction, research, and time for outside class preparation.  Students in these programs should be prepared to spend more time on homework.
