Teaching was a second career for me, so I started later in life. However, I have enjoyed every minute since I began. I really can’t believe this is my twentieth year! I received my teaching certificate through Houston Independent School District’s ACP Program. I taught Resource Language Arts to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. When I found myself teaching reading resource at an elementary campus, I discovered how much fun working with reading students could be. I returned to school to earn a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction of Reading from Prairie View A&M University. I have taught ELAR to grades 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Royal Elementary. I have learned so much from my fantastic students over the years and hope I have been able to be a positive force in their lives in some small way. My latest assignment is PPCD teacher at the ECC. I hope to grow and stretch this year as I gain new skills and experiences working with our tiniest students.
