School Board Recognition: Work Sessions, Training, and Hearings, Oh My!

Regular board meetings, special board meeting, work sessions, training sessions, public hearings, and more! These are just a few responsibilities of school board members.  Click here to view a video about the challenging role of a school board member. These volunteer civic leaders are entrusted by their community with responsibility for their district's annual budget, as well as the employees, students, and schools.

Royal ISD and school districts across the state use January as a time to recognize their school boards for their selfless dedication.  The past two years have been even more challenging as the board, district leadership, and staff have worked to provide the best possible education for all Falcon students, while protecting the health and safety of the community through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I hope you’ll join us in thanking these elected community members serving the Royal Independent School District:

  • Cheri Fontenot, Secretary
  • Elton Foster
  • Dr. Michael Glover, President
  • Rose Jones, Vice President
  • Nathaniel Richardson, Jr.
  • Adrian Rocha
  • Melissa Woods
