The giving season is upon us – Giving Tuesday – November 30, 2021.
This national day of giving began in 2012 by some resolute individuals and visionaries in New York as a reaction to consumerism, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is a day to give your support to those who give it their all to change the world.
The Bookworm Bus is asking for your support this November 30th. A bus, books, and ice cream – a beacon of hope in developing tomorrow’s readers.
God placed His vision on my heart – a bus reimagined creating a unique mobile library experience eliminating barriers created by poverty, limited English, and a lack of transportation. Where knowledge makes the journey delivering library, reading, and tutoring programs directly into the communities.
Books, a resource to expand our knowledge, making us more thoughtful, more generous, and more pained by its atrocities. God showed us the need, 1 in 4 children do not learn how to read. A grass roots approach delivering the book to the community, not waiting on the community to go to the book.
Ice cream is the sweet delight affording us the opportunity to change the social dynamics in the communities we serve. This favorite treat is the common bond in building fellowship and friendships with those who do not use the bus for the library services. Ice cream is breaking down barriers and strengthening our relationships in these communities.
A bus, books, and ice cream, one vision, one purpose – where knowledge makes the journey delivering God’s compassionate grace through books.
