Texas Ethics Commission: Transparency in Political Advertising

Did you know? The Texas Ethics Commission (TEC) was established in 1991 to "provide guidance on various public ethics laws" within the state of Texas. The agency is headquartered in Downtown Austin.

One of the jobs of the TEC is to ensure transparency in political advertising. The commission also monitors the activities of Political Action Committees (PACs).

Political advertising that advocates for a particular choice is required to include a disclosure statement. Political advertising communications  may not misrepresent a person’s identity or the true source of the advertising or communication. Violations can be submitted to the Texas Ethics Commission at the following link: https://ethics.state.tx.us/enforcement/
