his morning, a contractor unaffiliated with Royal ISD damaged a gas line on district property while installing a fiber-optic line for internet service in the neighborhood near the STEM campus. As a result, Centerpoint has disconnected the gas lines to all campuses. Some campuses have a slight smell of gas, but please be assured that gas is turned off and there is no danger to our staff or students. Royal is working to restore gas services to our campuses. This will disrupt kitchen processes and hot water for preparing and warming food, but Chartwells food services is working to provide alternate meal options for our students. We will provide updates as they become available.
