We still rolling the RHS award winning welding team competed in Columbus. The students had the opportunity to drive an underwater ROV and also talk to and weld with the guys from the popular YouTube channel, Weltube. They are the instructors from South Coast Welding Academy and will be posting a YouTube episode about the event. Make sure you catch the youtube show you should see some familiar faces. Students also participated in the underwater welding event and the timed torch cutting event. There were 28 schools in attendance and 220 students that participated. RHS welding students placed in the following categories:
David Aguilar - Level 3 - 6th place
- Northern Tool sponsored fabrication simulation - 3rd place
- Shop Knowledge and Safety Quiz - 6th place
Joanna Oviedo - Level 2 - 4th place
Jonathan Huerta - Level 3 - Did not place in top 10
Aside from the placing, Joanna Oviedo also received a scholarship to TSTC for $3000 and all participants received a scholarship to Tulsa Welding School for $250 each.
