Public Comments on the Royal ISD Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff and Community,

As part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP), and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government made Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds available for school districts across the country. This grant will help support students’ learning loss, academic and social-emotional supports, health and safety measures and continuity of services.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has allocated funding for Texas school districts, and Royal ISD has applied to receive ESSER funds for the 2022-23 school year. As RISD continues to receive ESSER funds, the District is required to seek public input every six months regarding changes to the RISD COVID-19 mitigation efforts in the Return to In-person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan (RIPICS Plan). Royal ISD posted the previous version of the plan for public comment in July 2022. Feedback from the community was used to revise the plan which has been posted publicly since August 2022.

RISD is requesting stakeholder feedback to assess the District’s updated Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services plan and protocols. The Return to In-person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan for the 2022-23 school year was updated in August and is available for review by all stakeholders. The plan includes details on a range of topics related to the school year. Any member of the community wishing to provide a comment regarding the plan is invited to submit comments to Royal ISD by emailing the Director of Federal Programs, Dr. Aronda Green at agreen@royal-isd.net. All comments must be received by Royal ISD no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Thank you,

Royal ISD
