Investing in Our Tomorrow: June 7 Community Advisory Committee Meeting Recap

On June 7, 2021, 34 members of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) met at Royal Elementary School (PK-1) to discuss facility needs across Royal ISD. Royal Superintendent Rick Kershner discussed the “Top Three Needs” for Royal Junior High, Royal STEM Academy, and Royal Elementary School (2-5). The lists were compiled from surveys completed by CAC members.

Kimberly Bow, Michael Lovaglio, and Scott Klaus from Stantec led meeting attendees in an activity that allowed them to vote and provide feedback on several district facility improvement options.

Royal Superintendent Rick Kershner stated, “It is exciting for us to hear the opinions and ideas of our community members. They have been very thoughtful and willing to help solve the facilities needs for our students.”

Also present were retired Katy ISD Superintendent Alton Frailey, who spoke to the group about the importance of investing in local schools, as well as RISD Trustees Nathaniel Richardson and Elton Foster, who expressed their support for facility improvements to provide our students with a competitive, quality education.

The next meeting will be held at 6PM on June 22 at Royal High School. Additional meetings will be scheduled to conduct strategic planning.

We encourage members of the Royal community to join this group as we continue to evaluate facility and student needs and work to create a strategic plan for ensuring the best possible education for all Falcon students.
