Royal ISD is excited to welcome Doug Foster as its new Athletic Director. With a passion for serving students and a proven track record in athletic leadership across multiple Texas districts, Coach Foster brings a student-first mindset and strong vision to Royal’s growing athletic programs.
“Coach Foster’s student-first mindset, deep experience, and commitment to building strong teams make him a perfect fit for Royal ISD,” said Superintendent Rick Kershner. “We are thrilled to welcome him to Falcon Nation and look forward to the positive impact he’ll have on our students, programs, and community.”
When asked about his "why," Foster answered with one simple, powerful word: "Family." His guiding principle is ensuring that everything within the athletic department serves one purpose—serving children. His favorite quote, “The strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack,” reflects his belief in the power of teamwork and community.
Coach Foster contributes to the district’s mission of “investing in our tomorrow” by focusing on the holistic development of student athletes—building character, instilling discipline, and preparing them for success beyond the field. His goals for the upcoming year include moving the athletic program forward in every way possible, ensuring excellence both on and off the field.
When he's not leading the charge for Royal Athletics, you can find Coach Foster doing what he loves most—fishing (or as he likes to call it, catching). Coach Foster brings valuable experience from multiple Texas school districts, including Corpus Christi ISD, Lamar Consolidated ISD, Poteet ISD, Rockport ISD, and Bellville ISD. His hands-on leadership style and deep roots in athletics make him a strong addition to the Royal ISD team.
Please join us in welcoming Coach Doug Foster to Royal ISD. We are confident that his leadership will elevate the Falcon athletic program to new heights!
