Education Heroes: Royal ECC Named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School

Royal ISD is proud to announce that Royal Early Childhood Center was named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) National Showcase School, a program that recognizes outstanding school administrators, teaching staff, and faculty for producing exemplary outcomes with the CKH process. Because of the rigor of the evaluation process, the Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools award is both a high aspiration and an exemplary recognition of excellence. Royal ECC truly believes that “If you have a child’s heart, you have a child’s mind.”

Under the leadership of Principal Natasha Moses, Royal ECC has thrived while implementing the CKH process. Principal Moses and her team live the CKH process. “At Royal Early Childhood Center, we invest in our tomorrow by ensuring each Little Falcon can feel our passion, love, and commitment to their excellence! We are intentional with our actions and interactions with all stakeholders. This all starts with the heart and allows our students to thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and academically, which is all a part of our campus mission.”, stated Principal Moses.

The program was implemented by Royal Superintendent Rick Kershner, who had this to say about the program, “I believe in being intentional about building connections and positive relationships. CKH promotes this through the processes they teach.”

This honor is only available to schools that have completed at least one year of the CKH program. Royal ECC is in its second year of the program, meaning that the campus received the award in its first year of eligibility. The 2022-2023 selection process began with over 10,000 campuses and resulted in 468 awardees.

National Showcase Schools are chosen annually through a rigorous selection process that includes measuring key performance indicators, gathering campus data, and surveying staff and students. The results represent the implementation of CKH processes as well as the culture and climate on each campus. Capturing Kids’ Hearts celebrates campuses where educators are exceeding expectations and creating an environment where students feel safe, connected, and eager to learn.

Danielle Rapp, Strategist and Senior Trainer for Capturing Kids' Hearts, stated, “A heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Moses, the entire staff, and students of Royal Early Childhood Center! Under the impeccable leadership of Ms. Moses, this campus has embraced, cultivated and nurtured the Capturing Kids Hearts' process from day one. With persistence and fidelity this campus has been able to become a National Showcase School in two years of implementation. Stepping onto this campus you know that all stakeholders are doing what is right for kids. It's an expectation and that's just what ECC is about! I am so proud of them and can't wait to see the growth and impact this will have on the entire district.“
