Introducing Royal Assistant Superintendent of Leadership and Learning Mrs. Duana Brashear

Royal ISD is excited to welcome Mrs. Duana Brashear as the Assistant Superintendent of Leadership and Learning. Brashear brings 18 years of education, leading at both the elementary and secondary level. As a dynamic leader, Mrs. Brashear cultivates excellence by focusing on relationships and connectedness. She currently leads Splendora Junior High and has presented at conferences across the state including Texas Association for School Administrators (TASA) Summer and Midwinter Conferences, the Future Ready Superintendents Leadership Network (FRSLN), Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA), Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT), and the Region 13 Instructional Coaching Conference (ICC). 

As a modern leader Brashear is known for finding creative solutions with a focus on high relational capacity. During her tenure as a campus principal she improved campus culture both academically and culturally, being honored as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase campus five consecutive years.  During her time as a campus principal she has established innovative instructional coaching practices with a focus on student engagement and data driven instruction. Brashear continues to inspire by leading with a focus on community based accountability, bringing the mission and vision of a district to life. 

When asked about joining the RISD family Brashear said, “Becoming a Royal Falcon is an honor. It’s clear that we are a district who puts students first, something I am passionate about. I'm looking forward to learning more, building relationships with all stakeholders, and continuing the great things Mr. Kershner is working on at RISD.”
