Royal ISD recently reported in an incident at Royal Elementary School. Royal wants to especially thank the RES student who saw something happen and told an adult. We are so proud of the hero Falcon who “saw something and said something”.
We were notified after our initial report that the item was an air soft gun and not a BB gun. At no time was the campus in an active shooter status. After the incident, a student hid the air soft gun in a backpack. The campus principal searched the child’s backpack, where it was found and confiscated. District police were notified as well. The incident has been addressed with the students who were involved. Counseling services are available for any students in need of assistance.
We recommend that all Falcon families encourage their child to report concerning incidents and to monitor their child’s backpack. Please note that no weapons of any kind are allowed in any Royal ISD facility. Please refer to pages 7-8 of the Student Code of Conduct for a complete list of prohibited items. It truly takes a village to keep our students and staff safe.
