Our District Academic UIL Week kicked off with our Literary Criticism and LD Debate teams participating.
Our Debate team competed in district for the first time in several years. They worked hard all year in preparation. We had two students place this year!

Mr. Venable also coaches our Literary Criticism team including Melani Alanis, Yazmin Alvarado, Alexcia Garcia, Vladimir Moreno, and Julissa Rico competed in district today as well. The team placed second overall (missing first place by just 1 point) with individual awards as follows:
4th place & Regional Qualifying Alternate Melani Alanis
1st place & Regional Qualifier Vladimir Moreno
Now we wait to see if we will qualify in the Wild Card division as a team.
Next up is Journalism and Ready Writers on Thursday, Poetry and Prose on Friday, and the rest of the events on Saturday!
