Celebrating Soccer at Royal, Honoring our Seniors

Our men’s Falcon soccer season at Royal High School is well underway. From the early practices and effort after Thanksgiving break to the JV games and scrimmages, a lot of new talented faces rose to the challenge of trying to keep the region championship at Royal in back-to-back seasons.

With a new coaching staff led by Coach Guzman, the team recruited Coach Leising from the Royal Elementary and Coach Baltazar from the Royal High School to bring a winning culture. The move created a culture that allows players to dream about succeeding academically as well on the field. As both of these performances rise, so options rise too.

For the first time ever in our program, we have a player weighing scholarship options. Royal Midfielder Wilson Ramirez currently holds scholarship options to play soccer in various schools in different states, including Brewton Parker in Georgia, Hesston College in Kansas, National Park and Eclessia College in Arkansas, Doane University in New England, Austin University in Texas, and an amazing scholarship package so far from Sterling College in Kansas. He is still considering options before he makes a commitment. This opportunity allows promising future and current players to dream that there is a next step in their playing career.

Earlier in the season, we were able to beat 5A Brenham and 6A Morton Ranch high school in Katy. This was the first time we were able to beat a 6A school. Credit to the players for this victory. The game ball will eventually be displayed in the high school trophy case.

As we continue to push for district championship and a deep run in the playoffs, Royal has to dream big because the effort we do is equally as big.

Last but not least, we wanted to acknowledge the seniors who are leaving the program at the end of the season: Ruben Acuna, Rodrigo Badillo, Israel Barbosa, Javier Estrada, AB Garcia, Nick Garcia, Edgar Guerrero, Yahir Parra, Jesus Perez, Wilson Ramirez, and David Rodriguez. Each year, it is a challenge to replace our seniors as they leave, but the future is bright. The hard work continues and kids continue to see that they provide an example to thee future Falcon alumni players.
