Royal ISD Voters Approve Proposition A for Proposed Districtwide Stadium Project Near New High School
Approved project will support Royal ISDβs long-range facilities planning, tied to projected enrollment growth and future student needs
PATTISON, TX β May 29, 2026 β The Royal Independent School District (Royal ISD) voters approved Proposition A in the May 2, 2026 bond election, authorizing a proposed districtwide, multi-use stadium project as part of the districtβs long-range facilities planning efforts.
According to official election results, Proposition A passed with 332 votes in favor and 304 votes against. The Royal ISD Board of Trustees canvassed the election results at its regular meeting on May 11, 2026.
In calling the election, the Royal ISD Board of Trustees considered long-range facilities planning information related to projected enrollment growth, the future new high school, and the condition of current facilities. Falcon Stadium has been in use for more than 60 years, and recent structural assessments identified recommended repairs and updates related to accessibility, safety, bleacher structures, concrete deterioration, corrosion, lighting, restrooms, concessions, and track and field facilities.
Planned to be adjacent to the future new high school currently under development near FM 362 and McGregor Lane, the approved facility is designed to support student programs and district events across Royal ISD, including athletics, band, cheer, track, soccer, graduation ceremonies, and youth programs.
The planning-level estimate for the approved project is approximately $72 million. Planned features include approximately 7,500 seats, a competition field, 8-lane track, fieldhouse facilities, lighting, concessions, restrooms, parking, and supporting event infrastructure.
βOn behalf of Royal ISD, I want to sincerely thank our community for taking part in this election process and for staying engaged throughout,β said Superintendent Dr. Megan C. Pape. βRoyal ISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas, and our students continue to achieve at a high level across academics, fine arts, extracurricular activities, and athletics. This yearβs Boys Soccer team competing in the UIL State Championship is one example of the student programs and activities that rely on district spaces to train, compete, perform, and bring our community together. As we continue planning for the future, this project represents an investment in the students, programs, and community that make Royal ISD strong. We are grateful for the communityβs support and look forward to sharing updates as we move into the next phase of planning.β
Following canvassing of the election results, the district will begin the next stages of project development. Additional information related to timelines, design development, procurement, and implementation will be shared with the community as progress continues.
