Royal High School is celebrating a milestone moment for its jazz program following an outstanding performance at the Jazz in the Woods Festival, hosted at Spring Woods High School.
For the first time in program history, the Royal High School Jazz Band earned a Superior Rating, the highest distinction awarded at the festival. This achievement marks a significant step forward for a program that is only in its third year, reflecting the dedication, growth, and talent of Royalβs student musicians.
In addition to the groupβs success, one student received special recognition at the state level. Rafael Garces, who plays bass guitar in the rhythm section, earned 3rd place in Texas 4A All-State Jazz, an impressive individual accomplishment that highlights both his skill and commitment to excellence.
