Royal ISD is proud to announce that Rafael Garces, a student in the Royal High School Wind Ensemble, has been selected to perform with the 2026 Texas All-State 4A Honor Band at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention in San Antonio.
Rafael earned this prestigious honor after advancing through a highly competitive, multi-level audition process that begins at the district level and progresses through region and area competitions across Texas. Approximately 60,000 students participate statewide each year, with only about 1,830 students ultimately selected to perform as All-State musicians.
As First Chair at the All-State Area level, Rafael will rehearse and perform with the Honor Band on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Henry B. GonzΓ‘lez Convention Center. This marks Rafaelβs first appearance as a member of a TMEA All-State ensemble.
In addition to Rafaelβs achievement, Royal ISD proudly recognizes several students who advanced to the All-State Area level, a significant accomplishment that reflects dedication, discipline, and musical growth:
Devin Ruley β Trumpet
Oliver Vince β Trumpet
Eduardo Acosta β Tuba
Mason Martin β Trombone
Justin Segura β Euphonium
Christian Solorio β French Horn
These students represented Royal High School with professionalism and pride, setting a high standard for excellence within the districtβs fine arts program.
Royal ISD extends appreciation to Band Director Gary S. Miller Jr., section mentors, and families whose support and guidance help students reach milestones like this. The district remains committed to providing meaningful fine arts opportunities that allow students to grow, perform, and excel at the highest levels.
