๐ Tonight, we celebrated the retirement of Royal ISD Superintendent Rick Kershner at the July regular board meeting.
Over the past five years, at the monthly District Leadership Team (DLT) meeting, Mr. Kershner honored a team member with the Investing in Our Tomorrow award โ a recognition of those making a meaningful impact on Royalโs future. Tonight, the tables turned as Mr. Kershner himself was honored with the very award he created, in recognition of his extraordinary leadership and unwavering dedication.
He was recognized by Assistant Superintendent Phylicia Glover, CFO Hector Herrera, and Executive Director of Federal, State, and Student Programs Natasha Moses, each of whom shared heartfelt stories about the ways Mr. Kershner shaped their lives and the entire Royal community.
In a special surprise, two of Mr. Kershnerโs high school friends showed up to celebrate this milestone โ a powerful reminder of the deep and lasting connections he inspires.
Capturing Kidsโ Hearts, Bond 2023, the balanced scorecard, and visionary leadership are just a few of the hallmarks of Mr. Kershnerโs time at Royal. Under his guidance, these initiatives became more than just strategies โ they became part of the districtโs culture. His unwavering focus on student-centered leadership, data-informed decisions, and relationship building laid a strong foundation for continued growth and success across Royal ISD.
Words canโt fully express our gratitude. Thank you, Mr. Kershner, for everything youโve done to #InvestInOurTomorrow. ๐๐ฆ
