The Goal or Vision statement for the Royal ISD Career and Technical Education Program is:

“We are dedicated to prepare young people to manage the dual roles of family member and wage earner. Career and technical education programs enable students to gain entry-level employment in a high-skill, high-wage position, and/or to continue their education.”

Royal High School and the Early College High School offer nine elective pathways through their CTE program. Approximately 95% of the 680 students enrolled at Royal High School and the Early-College High School are a part of at least one CTE pathway, which allows them the option to obtain Industry-Based Certifications prior to graduation to get a jump start on their career paths or to utilize while continuing their education.

Each year, students participate in a variety of contests and conventions where the level of competition amongst the contestants is not driven by school enrollment, but rather by geographical location. In other words, Royal ISD students vie against the larger surrounding districts to compete for the chance to advance to the area, state, and national levels. In the past ten years, Royal CTE students have been successful at all levels and have claimed State Championships in FFA, Skills USA Competency-Based Competitions, and the Texas Association, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) program. Students also serve their constituents by holding elected Leadership positions in their chosen Pathways at various levels.

Congratulations to RISD CTE staff and students for this honor and for their long and successful history!
