ASVAB Career Exploration Program

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude assessment that helps students better understand their strengths, interests, and potential career paths. While the ASVAB is commonly associated with military service, taking the assessment does not require students to enlist in the military. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program provides students with tools to explore a variety of military and civilian careers and consider how their skills and interests connect to opportunities after high school.

Royal ISD Student Information

  • OCTOBER 29, 2026 - All interested students may elect to take the ASVAB at Royal High School. Additional information regarding registration and testing procedures will be provided to participating students.

Preparing for the ASVAB

Students are encouraged to become familiar with the types of questions included on the ASVAB before test day. The assessment measures skills and knowledge in areas such as mathematics, science, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and technical subjects.

Students can access free sample questions and preparation resources through the official ASVAB Career Exploration Program website. Students do not need specialized knowledge or military experience to take the assessment.

What Should Students Bring on Test Day?

Students should bring:

  • A pen or pencil for scratch work.

  • Their district-issued Chromebook, fully charged, if directed by the campus.

ASVAB Scores

After testing, students will receive an ASVAB score report that provides information about their strengths across several academic and career-related areas.

Students can use their results with the ASVAB Career Exploration Program to explore occupations that align with their skills and interests. The program includes career-planning resources designed to help students consider college, career, technical education, and military pathways.

Taking the ASVAB does not obligate a student to enlist in the military. Students interested in military service may also use qualifying ASVAB scores as part of the military enlistment process.
