This summer, our Royal High School Falcon Cheer program focused on something even bigger than preparing for the season—they focused on building relationships and developing future leaders.

Throughout the month of June, our Varsity Cheer squad partnered with our Junior High (JV) Cheer squad for joint summer practices. Our Varsity cheerleaders embraced their roles as mentors, creating a welcoming, encouraging environment where our younger Falcons could grow both as athletes and as leaders.

One of the highlights of the summer was bringing back the cherished "Big Sis, Little Sis" tradition. This mentorship program was reintroduced to help ease the transition from junior high to high school cheer, providing each JV cheerleader with a Varsity mentor for guidance, encouragement, and support as they prepare for the next level.

Coach Trahan shared:

"We did stunt workshops to sharpen our stunting skills and focused on teamwork. We learned a combined total of 20 new cheers and sideline dances (with more on the horizon). We took time to learn how to properly condition our bodies through SAC Camp and learned new techniques to improve our endurance and flexibility—all while having cute theme days and lots of fun activities for team bonding!"

We're incredibly proud of the leadership, dedication, and teamwork displayed by both squads this summer. The future is bright for Falcon Cheer, and we can't wait to see these young women and men continue to grow and represent Royal ISD with pride.
