Royal ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Emily Nichols as the new Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education. In this role, Mrs. Nichols will oversee all Federal Programs across the district and provide district leadership and support for Royal ISD's elementary campuses.

Mrs. Nichols brings 26 years of experience in Texas public education, having most recently served as the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability in Snook ISD. Her career also includes impactful leadership as Principal at John C. Webb Elementary for 5 years in Navasota ISD and Principal of Academy Elementary in Academy ISD for 6 years. In 2022, she was recognized as the Region 6 “TEPSAN of the Year” by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA), a testament to her commitment to student success and instructional excellence.

A graduate of Texas A&M University - Commerce, Mrs. Nichols began her career in her hometown of Mount Vernon, Texas.  Her career progressed by teaching and coaching in multiple districts including Mount Vernon, Waskom, Wylie, Academy, and Navasota ISDs. Her classroom teaching experience spans areas of 5th grade reading, special education, and physical education.

Mrs. Nichols and her husband, Mike, a longtime teacher and high school football coach, have been married for 32 years. Together, they have five children, three daughters-in-law, and four granddaughters. She considers her family to be her greatest accomplishment.

Believing strongly that literacy opens the door to lifelong success for every student, and that strong relationships are at the heart of educating every student, Mrs. Nichols is excited to join the Royal Falcon Family and begin serving the district in her new role.

Dr. Megan Pape, Superintendent of Royal ISD, shared, “We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Nichols to our leadership team. Her extensive experience in elementary education and her passion for student achievement will be invaluable as we continue to move Royal ISD forward.
