Royal ISD proudly celebrates the extraordinary career of Chief Marilyn Vaughn, who is retiring after an incredible 47 years in law enforcement — including 24 years of dedicated service to the Royal community.

Chief Vaughn has been a cornerstone of safety, leadership, and compassion within Royal ISD. Throughout her more than two decades with the district, she has earned the respect of students, staff, and families alike through her steadfast commitment to protecting and empowering others. Her legacy will continue to shape our district for years to come.

Before joining Royal ISD, Chief Vaughn built a distinguished career in law enforcement. Her nearly five decades of public service reflect her unwavering belief in the power of community-based policing and her deep care for the people she served.

Chief Vaughn’s impact extends far beyond campus boundaries. From mentoring students interested in law enforcement careers to collaborating with community organizations, she has remained deeply rooted in service.

As she steps into retirement, Chief Vaughn leaves behind a legacy defined by courage, compassion, and leadership. Royal ISD is profoundly grateful for her decades of service and wishes her the very best in the next chapter of her life.
