Do students have an opportunity to select remote or face-to-face learning based on their family’s needs?
Royal ISD will be following the State’s mandates regarding the opening of the school year by offering two learning options. To assist us in preparing for the 2020-2021 school year, we are asking each parent/guardian to choose the preferred learning option for your child(ren):
Falcon Traditional Classroom Experience: Face-to-Face Learning
Falcon Virtual Experience: Remote Learning
Parents’ choice of learning setting is binding for at least one grading period. If a parent wishes to switch from one learning setting to another (remote or face-to-face), they will have the opportunity to work with their student’s campus administrators to change their instructional setting selection during a designated window at the end of each grading period. Regardless of the learning option chosen, all Royal ISD students will benefit from: instruction by certified teachers, daily opportunities to engage with teachers, rigorous curriculum and instruction, social and emotional learning to support students and families, and continued family engagement.
In the event of a school closure, students will remain at home and will engage in learning activities that are primarily delivered through Google Classroom. Daily student participation in the learning activities will be required.
Once a commitment to the instructional model has been communicated by the parent/family, a request must be submitted in writing to shift to the other model. These transitions must be approved and processed by the school and may take up to two weeks. Attendance in the current model is mandatory. Instructional model changes will only be allowed at the end of the grading period. Please note that if a student switches between face-to-face learning and remote learning, then that student may not have the same teacher(s) or course schedule, as teachers may or may not be teaching both.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents and guardians of current Royal ISD students will be required to complete the 2020-2021 School Commitment Form to indicate their Learning Option selection for the 2020-2021 school year.
We ask that parents and guardians complete this form by the Sunday, July 2, 2020 deadline.
There are two options for entering your selection:
