A Message to the RHS Class of 2020

Attention Seniors:

I trust that you and your families are safe and sound. I just wanted all seniors to know that we have not forgotten about you! We want to reassure you that we will do everything possible to ensure that you successfully graduate from RHS. Seniors, in order for this to happen, make sure that you adhere to the following steps for graduation.

  1. Make sure that you complete all assignments given to you by your instructors. Classes will be held online by google classroom or on Edgenuity. You must communicate with your teachers and your senior counselor (Ms. Watts) to ensure that you are being successful in your courses.
  2. Final Ranking and GPA - Seniors, we will continue to follow our grading guidelines at RHS. The 5th six weeks is an important grading period. Our 5th 6weeks ends on April 3, 2020. RHS will begin online distance learning on Monday, March 30, 2020. With this in mind, we have decided to allow a two-week grade correction period from April 6 thru April 17th. During this period, teachers will be able to give students additional instruction, assignments, and grades that were missed during the 5th six weeks. The final six-weeks grading period will begin as scheduled on April 6, 2020. Please be mindful that all RHS Seniors will have a FINAL COMPLETED TRANSCIPT at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.  We will communicate the process for picking up High School Diplomas and transcripts at a later date.
  3. Senior Activities and Graduation - At this time, with so much uncertainty concerning the COVID-19 Virus, we are unable to release any information concerning senior activities, prom, graduation etc. As we receive information from local, state, and federal government agencies, we will immediately share the information.
  4. Seniors who still need to pass EOC Exams - We have received information from TEA indicating that all seniors who still need to pass EOC Exams will be exempt from all EOC Exams. However, these seniors must complete and pass the required grade equivalent project(s) established by RHS Administration. This project will cover the TEKS and essential skills needed to satisfy course requirements. If you have not yet been contacted by campus administration concerning an EOC Graduation Project, please contact me at trunnels@royal-isd.net.

Sincerely,

Tony L. Runnels, Jr.
