Greetings Falcons,
Royal ISD has been actively monitoring the development of Tropical Storm Beta, and we must unfortunately close all district facilities and cancel all scheduled extracurricular activities on Wednesday 9/23/2020. Weather experts are unsure of how much rain will occur in our area, and we are acting out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
IMPORTANT NOTE: WiFi buses will be available (click here for the current locations and schedule) and Royal ISD will still offer curbside meals at all campuses from 8-10am except STEM (click here for details – please follow signage at each campus).
RISD staff will be working remotely, and all Royal students should utilize our distance learning portals during the closure. We know that students in grades 2-12 who selected face-to-face learning are scheduled to return to their campuses starting on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, and we are sorry that we won’t see them in person tomorrow.
Since Beta is a slow-moving storm, we may continue to experience sustained rains through the night and into tomorrow morning. We will re-evaluate the situation on Wednesday afternoon and will utilize the district callout system, social media, and the district website to communicate additional updates.
