Summer 2020 Athletics Training Sessions Will Resume on Wednesday, 7/15/2020

Royal ISD is excited to announce the return of our annual summer training sessions. We will resume summer workouts on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

Schedule:

  • Boys: 8:30am at Field House, Grades 7-12
  • Girls: 10:30am at the High School, Grades 7-12
  • Cross Country: 7am outside

UIL has established guidelines to keep our athletes and staff safe from COVID-19. RISD coaches will adhere to those guidelines and will communicate those guidelines to students on Wednesday, July 15.

Since some workouts will be conducted outdoors, all athletes need to remember to stay hydrated. Bottled water will be provided by Royal ISD. Athletes are encouraged to wear sunscreen and bring mosquito spray if needed.

It is important that we all pay attention to the symptoms associated with COVID-19. If you or your child displays any symptoms, contact your family physician or medical professional.

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

RISD has implemented guidelines to help prevent the spread of illness:

  • NEW Requirement: Athletes will be required to wear masks EXCEPT for when they are actively working out. All staff will wear masks during the workouts.
  • Please stay home if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:  fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea
  • ALL athletes will be required to submit a new Medical History Form. Required forms are available at https://royalisd.rankonesport.com/New/NewInstructionsPage.aspx. Please contact Mrs. Albright via email at fdostal@royal-isd.net with any questions related to the forms.
  • Masks are recommended but not required during training sessions.
  • Bottled water will be provided at each session.
  • In the past, our coaching team has assisted families with providing transportation to summer training sessions. Due to UIL restrictions, we will not be able to do so.
  • Prior to each session, each athlete’s temperature will be scanned. Athletes who have a temperature over 100.0 on a thermal scanner OR exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 will not be able to participate in that day’s training session and may return once they no longer exhibit COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Students will be placed into groups of 10. If any student in one of the groups tests positive for COVID-19, all students and coaches assigned to that group will be required to quarantine for 14 days.
  • Students will be required to put their cell phones in a plastic bag and to use hand sanitizer upon entry. Phones will be locked in a secure location and returned at the conclusion of each session.
  • Students without a physical on file will be required to submit one.

Royal ISD is required to follow the social distancing guidelines set by UIL. The Royal coaching team will monitor adherence to those guidelines. Students who do not follow the guidelines will not be able to attend future training sessions.

Please note that the weekly schedule is fluid based on attendance and on the UIL guidelines. We look forward to seeing our athletes on Wednesday June 15!

Thanks,

Royal ISD Athletic Department
