Congratulations to the Royal Class of 2020! Even though their senior year looks different than those of prior graduates, the 144-member Class of 2020 persevered and thrived, participating and achieving greatness in virtual competitions and academics. Below are just a few of their accomplishments. Add to these dozens of awards, scholarships, career certifications, college coursework, associates degrees, athletic and academic contest success, community service efforts, and much more, and you will have just a glimpse of what the Class of 2020 is capable of accomplishing:
- 99 seniors accepted into college or universities
- 6 seniors enlisted in the Armed Forces
- 3 AP Honor Scholars
- 1 National Merit Scholar Qualifier
The team at Royal ISD celebrated the Class of 2020 on May 7, 2020 with a Celebration Drive-Thru Parade. Seniors traveled through the Royal High school drive while RISD staff and the Royal community cheered for them. A DJ was on hand to provide music for the event. Each senior was surprised with a personalized yard sign commemorating their class, and received their caps and gowns, senior t-shirts, and more. We want to extend a huge thank you to Seth Stokes of Launch Graphics for designing and producing the senior signs.
Royal Class of 2020: Remember that YOU get to decide the legacy you leave, and the best view comes after the hardest climb. Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start. From “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss: You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any way you choose! You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way! When things start to happen, don’t worry, don’t stew. Just go right along, you’ll start happening, too. And will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed! KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
