Today’s Update from Judge Duhon
COVID-19 UPDATE FOR WALLER COUNTY

I hope everyone is enjoying a quiet rainy Saturday...  Lisa is watching a Blade movie marathon, which is a little weird, but hey, that's her thing... I try not to "judge".

So, the good news - still no confirmed case for Waller County.  As of last night when I spoke to our Local Health Authority Dr. Placensia at the Texas DSHS, there are 3 individuals that they are currently awaiting test results back on.   Dr. Placensia said he would not be surprised if one of those does come back positive.  These individuals are either hospitalized or are quarantined, so they are not currently any risk to the public.

As I've said before, however, just proceed as if we have multiple cases of COVID-19 in Waller County.  MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES.  CONTINUE TO FOLLOW ALL GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS.  I will say this - from the reports I have received, it looks like many of you are doing just that by staying home, which is a very good thing.  Let's keep in going.  We have all of the advantages of being a rural county (low density).  Let's continue to use that to our advantage.

If you need to refresh yourself on these guidelines, please visit the Waller County coronavirus webpage at https://www.co.waller.tx.us/page/EM.COVID-19

BELOW IS THE UPDATED COUNTY LIBRARY POLICY in relation to COVID-19

Starting Thursday, Mar 19, Waller County Library will launch the Books & More! Curbside Pick-Up service during limited hours. This service is specifically designed for patrons practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 period. This is how the Books & More Curbside Pick-Up service works:
•    Patrons will need to call the library, or go on the webpage and put items on hold.  All patrons must have their library card or IDs.  If the patron is not picking up the item personally the person designated to pickup items must have ID the matches’ person assigned to pick up items.
•    Library cards must be valid (unexpired) – without fines or fees less than $3.
•    Patrons may use this service to pick up books and materials on HOLD, or patrons may request specific titles for pick up. Patrons may check out a maximum of 3 DVDs or Blu-Rays and 8 books or CDs through the Books & More! Curbside Pick-Up service. Patrons are encouraged to check the catalog for availability.
•    Library staff will search the shelves, pull the requested materials, and check them out using the patron’s library card number.
•    When all items are collected, staff will call the patron to inform them that their items are ready to be picked up.
•    Patrons will be directed to a special parking area at the library of their choice. Patron will call to let staff know they have arrived and a staff person will deliver the items directly to the patron’s car.
•    Items for pick up through the Books & More service will be available until closing of the next business day. After that time, items will be returned to the shelves.
•    All books and DVDs and CDs materials are eligible for this service.
