Distance Learning Platforms

The District has two plans to continue learning during campus closures. Both options require students to check out a district issued Chromebook. The options are as follows:

  • Students WITH internet access – A Google classroom will be set up for each class. Teachers will reach out to students to provide details for their classes, assign lessons, monitor learning and provide assistance through google classroom. Please monitor communication from your campus for details.
  • Students WITHOUT internet access – Parents will need to bring each child’s district-provided Chromebook, charged and turned on, within range of the district Wi-Fi one time per week. A reliable place to gain signal is near the rear of the high school. If you pick up meals at the district, this is a great time to bring the Chromebooks and can be completed during the regular meal pickup times to allow you to make one trip for both services. When the device is in range of district Wi-Fi, the Chromebooks will connect and sync the student’s completed assignments to Google Classroom as well as download new assignments. Please monitor your email and communication outlets from the campuses for more details.
  • Students with their own device - Parents supply device for students to access google classrooms and web-based learning. If the family has internet access, the student will utilize it to access and complete assignments. If the student does not have internet access,  Parents will need to bring each child’s district-provided Chromebook, charged and turned on, within range of the district Wi-Fi one time per week. Note: We recognize there will be many questions; we ask everyone be patient. The first step is for every student to check out a device, and the teachers and principals will work with families to support the distant learning experience.

Student Chromebook Distribution

Royal ISD will distribute Chromebooks to students Monday 3/23 to Friday 3/27 from 10am to 4pm according to the following schedules*.

*Students without a student ID or parent driver’s license will complete an alternative verification process and will need to return on Thursday or Friday to obtain their Chromebooks.

**ECHS will also receive Lone Star College textbooks on Monday.

Distribution will occur at each students’ school campus. The distribution will occur as a drive-thru service. Students and parents should not leave their vehicles.

When you visit the students’ campus to pick up your child’s Chromebook, you will need to bring the student’s school ID card or Z-Pass Bus Tag for EACH child. If you are unable to bring the student ID or bus tag, a parent’s driver’s license may be used. If neither is available, the district will advise you about next steps to verify student enrollment, and you may return on Thursday and Friday for an additional opportunity to checkout a Chromebook.
