Important Coronavirus Update

Dear Royal community,

At this time, we are not aware of any infected persons within the Royal ISD area. We will continue to monitor official local and national advisories and will follow all government directives. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please bookmark RISD’s Coronavirus Updates page to quickly access the most current information from our district. All announcements will be posted on the Updates page and on social media. This page will display the most recent RISD communication, followed by a list of reputable resources.

  • RISD Mitigation Actions:
  • Expectations for RISD community members:
    • Prepare, don’t panic.  Please remain calm, choosing to prepare instead of panic.
    • Evaluate information before sharing itIt is very important to carefully consider the accuracy of media reports and social media posts, and to refer only to credible sources of information.
    • Stay informed: Refer often to the RISD Coronavirus Updates page, where we have posted a list of credible sources. Refer to those sites to obtain guidance and to help share facts, not fear. The World Health Organization (WHO) has published a Coronavirus Mythbusters page to battle the spread of misinformation.
    • Do your part: The best way to prevent infection is to take steps to avoid exposure to this virus, which are similar to the steps you take to avoid the flu. Successful containment of the virus depends upon each of us showing a debt of responsibility to each other. It is vital that we all consistently practice the following recommendations:
      • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.
      • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
      • Stay home when you are sick.
      • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
      • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
      • If anyone in your family displays symptoms, please visit a local doctor immediately for evaluation.
  • Deep cleaning of every campus building each day during the closure.
  • “Falcon Drive Thru”: Visit our food services team at the rear of Royal High School. Breakfast will be available from 8-10am and lunch will be available 11am-1pm each day during the closure (Monday 3/16 - Friday 3/20). PLEASE NOTE: Those picking up meals will NOT be allowed to leave their vehicles. An RISD staff member will provide pre-packaged meal(s) to each vehicle. Signs will be posted at the campus to direct traffic flow.
  • Planning: The RISD administrative team will meet on Monday 3/16 to discuss the situation and develop an action plan for our schools. Further details will be communicated Monday evening.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this unprecedented situation. We are working diligently to keep our community safe and will continue to provide you with updates.
