The RES First Grade Classes presented a very special, heart warming presentation entitled: "A Gift For Santa!". It was a musical skit, directed by our Music Teacher, Ms. Anne Marquis. She wrote the skit, and dedicated the production in honor of her daughter: Elizabeth. (Elizabeth will celebrate her birthday this month, and mom says she shows kindness to all she meets.) The skit featured Santa having to travel world wide, stopping in Spain, Germany, & France, to drop presents to dear children. While at each stop, dancers and singers (various 1st Grade Classes) entertained Santa, his elves and reindeers with cultural songs and dances. In the meantime, Santa grew very very hungry... and "Ellie" the sweet reindeer, named in honor of Ms. Marquis' daughter... prepared a sandwich meal for Santa, reflecting a caring spirit for the season. This act of kindness warmed the cold hearts of the other reindeers who poked fun at Ellie for being so kind. Torian Wilkins was the 1st Grade Santa; Trevor Davis served as the Narrator. • RES Student Council Election!

The RES Student Council administered a 2012 "Mock Election" for the RES Campus "Texas STARR Students" in grades 3-5. This mock election (under the instructional supervision of the Student Council Sponsors: Ms. Gloria Norman, Ms. Shirley Archie, & Ms. Jeanine Davis), presented a learning opportunity for our students. The Mock Election covered the political process of our Presidential Election Year. Each student filled out a mock Voter Registration Application, completed with parental assistance; and, received a mock Voter Registration Card. Each grade was given a verbal overview of the voting process, and was given a sample "mock" Ballot to review. On the Day of Election, the students were required to be a registered voter, and have proper I.D. (Student I.D. Badges) in order to participate in the general election. Members of the Student Council wore American Flag hats, and served as Polling Officials. Principal Robin Beaty approved and supported this event as RES is daily "Setting The Stage for Learning"!
